Beijing Graduate Exchange Program

Graduate students and faculty at the Great Wall of China.

Over approximately one decade (starting in 2010), the Department of Art collaborated with major universities in Beijing on academic exchange programs.

The Department of Art and the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) conducted an intensive graduate level academic exchange focused on developing cross-cultural art collaborations, resulting in two professionally mounted exhibitions of new work, in Buffalo at the UB Art Gallery, and in Beijing at Today Art Museum.

There was also a partnership with the Academy of Arts and Design at Tsinghua University in Beijing to realize a new graduate level program of cross-cultural art collaborations, exhibitions and publications. Every other year during the program's active years, two intensive art/academic residencies took place in Beijing and in Buffalo, involving MFA, PhD and MA graduate students from both UB and Tsinghua, culminating in innovative creative and research projects.
